Institutional distance and foreign direct investment: An asymmetric approach

This paper analyses the effects of distance asymmetries on Portuguese inward foreign direct investment (FDI) from relatively more, and less, developed countries through lenses institutional distance. We a panel dataset composed 35 origins FDI during period 2003-2015 analysed it series multiple regression techniques. Results suggest that, when investing in Portugal, with lower levels development are not affected by variations. Conversely, seems that more is influenced several dimensions contributes to understanding distance, emphasising need for purely asymmetric constructs IB research. Also, provides framework assessing traditional, absolute measured, constructs.
